Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

exposure considerations
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because direct and indirect exposure of the soil compartment is unlikely

Description of key information

No toxicity to terrestrial plant studies were available for tin bis(2-ethylhexanoate).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The relevant dissociated component of tin bis(2-ethylhexanoate), namely 2-ethylhexanoic acid is water soluble (4,500 mg/L) and has a very low potential for adsorption to organic matter as indicated by a log Koc of 1.6. Therefore, the predicted no effect concentration (PNEC) for soil was derived from the PNEC for freshwater using the equilibrium partitioning method. Using this PNECsoil the risk characterization shows that the PEC/PNECsoil ratio for the terrestrial environment is <1, indicating no need for further information and testing.
