First-aid measures

Description of first aid measures
General information:
As in all cases of potential poisoning, Obtain medical advice immediately.

In case of eye contact: Irrigate copiously with water for at least 10 minutes. Consult an ophthalmologist if any irritation (redness, pain) appears.
In case of inhalation: Remove the individual to fresh air and keep at rest. Obtain medical advice immediately.
In case of skin contact: IRRITANT. Remove contaminated clothes. Wash skin with large volumes of water (or soap and water). If skin irritation occurs, obtain medical advice/attention.
In case of ingestion: Rinse mouth with water and spit out. Do not give anything to drink or eat, and do not try to make vomit without a specialist advice. Consult a doctor if trouble appears.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed: Serious skin irritation at contact point.

Indication of immediate medical attention and special treatment needed: No specific data available. Symptomatic treatment.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media: In the event of fire, adequate extinguishers should be used (Dry powder, carbon dioxide, alcohol-resistant foam or water mist). Water jet is not recommended. Avoid inhalation of smoke and fumes. In case of insufficient ventilation, wear suitable respiratory equipment.

Special hazard arising from the substance or mixture: No specific hazardous decomposition products known (release of carbon oxides expected).

Advice for fire-fighters: DANGEROUS FOR THE ENVIRONMENT: retain water or extinguishing media and eliminate safely.
The substance is not flammable, and no additional self-reaction, explosive or oxidising hazard are anticipated.
Avoid inhalation of smoke and fumes. In case of insufficient ventilation, wear suitable respiratory equipment.
Move undamaged containers from immediate hazard area if it can be done safely, or use water spray jet to protect personnel and to cool endangered containers.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures
For non-emergency personnel: Take back unnecessary people.
Adequate protective gloves and half mask should be worn when handling spillages. No smoking. Avoid naked flames or other potential sources of ignition (e.g. electrical equipment).
Individual washing routines should be followed after any potential contact.
Ensure adequate ventilation in working areas following accidental releases

For emergency personnel: Apply the same recommendations as in first section

Environmental precautions
The substance is DANGEROUS FOR THE ENVIRONMENT.
Do not discharge directly into drains, soil or aquatic environment.
Inform competent authorities when the situation cannot be controlled rapidly and adequately, or if the product contaminates natural environment.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up
For containment: Gross liquid spillages have to be contained by the use of sand or inert powder. If the product turns solid, contain by a cover. Do not reuse. Do not reintroduce into the original container. Collect into a suitable and labelled container. Treat as waste, disposal of this should be in accordance with Government Regulations.
Cover drains to prevent entry of the product in the sewer system. Avoid contamination of natural environment (soil, waters).
For cleaning-up: Collect with a shovel and/or by sweeping and place into a suitable container for waste. Residues can be rinsed with water and discharged to drains for onsite wastewater or domestic sewage treatment.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling:
Protective measures
Measures to prevent fire:
As a general rule, avoid any sources of ignition, and avoid exposing to high temperature during processing. The substance is not classified for physical hazards; therefore no specific prevention measures apply for identified uses.

Measures to prevent aerosol and dust generation:
Work processes must be designed to keep exposure to a minimum. Maintain adequate local and general ventilation where product is handled.

Measures to prevent the environment:
DANGEROUS FOR THE ENVIRONMENT. Provide for retaining container.

Advice on general occupational hygiene
SKIN IRRITANT. Wear appropriate protective clothes and adequate gloves. Wash hands thoroughly after handling. Wash contaminated clothing before re-use. Contaminated work clothing should not be allowed out of the workplace.
Observe the usual precautions for handling organic chemicals.
Good personal washing routines should be followed. Wash hands before breaks and after work.
When using do not eat, drink or smoke. Avoid breathing vapour and spray.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities
It is good general practice to store in closed, preferably full, properly labelled, containers away from heat sources, and protected from extremes of temperature. Do not re-use the empty container.
Respect general rules for compatibility storage.

Specific end use(s)
Not available at this time.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Control parameters:
Occupational Exposure Limit values: No existing OEL for the substance.
Derived No Effect Levels: see head chapter section 7
Predicted No Effect Concentrations: see head chapter section 6

Exposure controls:
Appropriate engineering controls
Work processes must be designed to keep exposure to a minimum. Maintain adequate local and general ventilation where product is handled and dispensed.

Environmental exposure controls
Not available at this time. Avoid release to the environment.

Personal protection
Respiratory protection: where ventilation may be inadequate, chemical cartridge respirator with A-type filter (EN 143) is recommended.

Hand protection: IRRITANT. Wear protective gloves tested to EN374 (e.g. nitrile, butyl, Teflon®); protection level appropriate to substance/task.

Eye protection: Wear safety goggles (conforming EC EN 166) is recommended

Skin protection: depending on working situation these should include wearing protective clothing, which will also limit the odour contamination of personal clothing.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity
No hazardous reaction anticipated in case of contact with air or water (based on chemical structure and experience in handling and use).

Chemical stability
When stored under standard temperature, the substance is stable. Stability in organic solvents not expected to be critical.

Possibility of hazardous reactions
Not known.

Conditions to avoid
Direct sources of heat and light.
Do not heat closed containers.
Avoid contact with oxidizing agents.

Incompatible materials
Not known.

Hazardous decomposition products
Contact with water or storage under recommended conditions for one year should not produce dangerous decomposition products.

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods
Product: when being disposed of in its unused and uncontaminated state should be treated as a hazardous waste according to EC Directive 2008/98/EC. Any disposal practices must be in compliance with all national and provincial laws and any municipal or local by-laws governing hazardous waste. The product should not be allowed to enter drains or the environment.

Contaminated packaging: Empty packaging should be disposed according to local or national regulations by an approved waste handling. Minimize release to the environment

Do not dump into any sewers, on the ground, or into any body of water.
