PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

The results of two OECD TG301D screening tests clearly indicate that IOA is readily biodegradable. Therefore, it would not be considered Persistent or Very Persistent according to the criteria in REACH Annex XIII.

Based on the determination of BCF via QSAR and results of studies on mammalian metabolism and elimination of acrylate esters, IOA would not be considered Bioaccumulative or Very Bioaccumulative according to the criteria in REACH Annex XIII.

The results of acute and chronic ecotoxicological and mammalian toxicity studies clearly indicate that IOA is not toxic according to the criteria in REACH Annex XIII.

The available information is sufficient to conclude that isooctyl acrylate would not be considered PBT or vPvB according to the criteria in REACH Annex XIII.

Likely routes of exposure:

IOA is not a PBT/vPvB substance; therefore the emission characterization does not need to be conducted.
