Description of key information

Additional information

The test item is a colourless liquid.

The melting point was found to be less than -20°C (<253 K) using BS4633 method for the determination of Crystallizing Point. The boiling point was not detremined as the test item decomposed from approximately 257°C (530K) at 101.0kPa by differential scanning calorimetry. Using the pycnometer method, the density was found to be 1.24x10E3 kg/m3 at 20°C and a relative density of 1.24.

Particle size was waived as the test item is a liquid. The vapor pressure of the test item has been determined to be 1.1 x10E-4 Pa at 25°C and the partition coefficient to be 28.7, Log10Pow 1.46 (main component, 87.9% peak area), using the HPLC mehod. The water solubility is 12.9 g/L at 20.0°C using the flask method. The surface tension study does not need to be conducted as it is not desirable feature of material. The flash point is 213°C +/-2°C, using closed cup equilibrium method. The auto-flammability data comes from a read-across substance 1,3-Isobenzofurandione, hexahydro-, reaction products with epichlorohydrin and is found to be 360°C.

In accordance with section 2 of REACH (Regulation(EC) No 1907/2006) Annex XI, the flammability (solids and gases) studies (required in Annex VII section 7.10) do not need to be conducted based on the findings of the chemical assessment and as the substance is a liquid.

Explosive properties study does not need to be conducted as there are no chemical groups associated with expolsive properties present in the molecule and the calculated oxygen balance is less than -200.

The oxidising properties study (required in section 7.13) does not need to be conducted as the substance does not possess chemical groups associated with oxidising properties.
