Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
injury to persons (inhalation): Move subject to fresh air.
injury to persons (eye): Immediately flush eyes with a large amount of water for at least 15 min. Get prompt medical attention.
injury to persons (skin): Immediately get under a safety shower. Remove contaminated clothing. Wash affected skin areas thoroughly with soap and water. Get prompt medical attention. Wash contaminated clothing thoroughly before reuse. Do not take clothing home to be laundered. Discard contaminated shoes, belts and other articles made of leather.
injury to persons (oral): Do not induce vomiting. Give milk or water to drink. Immediately see a physician. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.
Note to Physician: If swallowed, careful evacuation of the stomach is advisable.
Fire-fighting measures
Hazards: Combustion generates toxic fumes of nitrogen oxides and carbon oxides.
Prot. Equipment: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus (pressure-demand NIOSH approved or equivalent) and full protective gear.
Ext. Medium: Use the following extinguishing media when fighting fires involving this material: - carbon dioxide - dry chemical -
water spray.
Accidental release measures
Personal Protection:
Material is corrosive. Wear a NIOSH approved (or equivalent) self-contained breathing apparatus in the pressure demand mode or a full-facepiece airline respirator in the pressure demand mode with emergency escape provisions. Protective clothing made of the following material should be worn to avoid skin contact: - nitrile - neoprene - butyl rubber. Remove all contaminated clothing promptly. Wash all exposed skin areas with soap and water immediately after exposure.
Procedures:
Evacuate the spill area. Floor may be slippery; use care to avoid falling. Contain spills immediately with inert materials (e.g. sand, earth). Transfer liquids and solid diking material to separate suitable containers for recovery or disposal. Flush cleaned area with water to a sewage treatment facility. Avoid all contact.
WARNING: Keep spills and cleaning runoffs out of municipal sewers and open bodies of water.
Handling and storage
Handling
This material is corrosive.
NOTE: During storage, harmful vapors can accumulate in the container head when containers are opened. Harmful vapors can be evolved when this material is heated during processing. Every effort must be made to protect workers from airborne concentrations exceeding the exposure limits.
Storage
Storage conditions:Avoid temperature extremes during storage; ambient temperature preferred. Store away from excessive heat (e.g. steampipes, radiators), from sources of ignition and from reactive materials. An atmosphere of dry Nitrogen may be used to preserve the chemical purity. Do not store this material in containers made of the following: copper, Copper alloys. Although stainless steel or cast iron equipment is satisfactory, mild steel is preferred. Keep container tightly closed.
Further information:
CONTAINERS MAY BE HAZARDOUS WHEN EMPTY. Since emptied containers retain product residue follow all MSDS and label warnings even after container is emptied.
Improper disposal or re-use of this container may be dangerous and illegal. Refer to applicable local, state and federal regulations.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Occupational Exposure Limit
Risk of skin absorption associated with occupational
exposure limit value.
Exposure controls:
Eye protection: Use chemical splash goggles and face shield (ANSI Z87.1 or approved equivalent).
Hand protection:Chemical-resistant gloves should be worn whenever this material is handled. The glove(s) listed below may provide protection against permeation. (Gloves of other chemically resistant materials may not provide adequate protection): butyl-rubber, Neoprene gloves, Nitrile rubber. Gloves should be removed and replaced immediately if there is any indication of degradation or chemical breakthrough. Rinse and remove gloves immediately after use. Wash hands with soap and water.
Skin and body protection:Wear as appropriate: Chemical resistant apron, protective suit, Boots.
Respiratory protection: A respiratory protection program must be followed whenever workplace conditions warrant a respirator's use. None required if airborne concentrations are maintained below the exposure limit. Up to 10 times the exposure limit: Wear a properly fitted NIOSH approved (or equivalent) half-mask, air-purifying respirator. Up to 50 times the exposure limit: Wear a properly fitted NIOSH approved (or equivalent) full-facepiece, air-purifying respirator, OR full-facepiece, airline respirator in the pressure demand mode. Above 50 times the exposure limit or Unknown: Wear a properly fitted NIOSH approved (or equivalent) self-contained breathing apparatus in the pressure demand mode, OR full-facepiece, airline respirator in the pressure demand mode with emergency escape provision. Air-purifying respirators should be equipped with NIOSH approved (or equivalent) ammonia/methylamine cartridges and N95 filters. If oil mist is present, use R95 or P95 filters.
Protective measures:Facilities storing or utilizing this material should be equipped with an eyewash facility and a safety shower.
Engineering measures:Use local exhaust ventilation with a minimum capture velocity of 100 ft/min. (0.5 m/sec.) at the point of vapor evolution. Refer to the current edition of Industrial Ventilation: A Manual of Recommended Practice published by the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists for information on the design, installation, use, and maintenance of exhaust systems.
Stability and reactivity
Hazardous reactions: Stable under recommended storage conditions.
Materials to avoid: Acids, Oxidizing agents.
Hazardous decomposition products: There are no known hazardous decomposition products for this material.
Polymerization : Product will not undergo hazardous polymerization.
Disposal considerations
Incinerate liquid and contaminated solids in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
