PREPARATION AND APPLICATION OF TEST SOLUTION
- Method: The test media (reconstituted water and test material) were freshly prepared. Stock solutions of definite concentrations were prepared by mechanical dispersion dissolving the appropriate amount of the test substance in the required volume of deionised water. This stock solution was transferred into the test medium of one glass tank.
- Controls: Blank control performed with the test solution without the test substance.
- Evidence of undissolved material: No
Test organisms (species):
Danio rerio (previous name: Brachydanio rerio)
Details on test organisms:
TEST ORGANISM
- Common name: Zebra fish
- Age at study initiation: 2 months
- Source: West-Aquarium GmbH, Bad Lauterberg, Germany
- Size: 2.0 + 1.0 cm

ACCLIMATION
- Acclimation period: 4 days
- Acclimation conditions: Same as the test. The zebra fish were acclimatized to the conditions of the laboratory and were kept in reconstituted water.
- Type and amount of food during acclimation: During the adaptation phase the test fish were fed with breeding food for carps (Club-Kronen Tiernahrung GmbH & Co. KG, Wesel).
- Health during acclimation: No mortality was observed.

pH:
6.0 - 8.5.
Dissolved oxygen:
97 - 100 %
Nominal and measured concentrations:
- Nominal concentrations: 0 (control), 1 and 10 mg/L
- Measured concentrations (mean): No concentrations of the test substance were measured.
Details on test conditions:
TEST SYSTEM
- Test vessel: glass tank.
- Volume: The glass tanks for the different test batches had the following dimensions: length 300 mm, width 200 mm and height 220 mm.
- Aeration: yes
- No. of organisms per vessel: 10
- No. of vessels per concentration (replicates): 1
- No. of vessels per control (replicates): 2

TEST MEDIUM / WATER PARAMETERS
- Source/preparation of dilution water: Reconstitued water according to OECD guideline 203 (1984)
- Culture medium different from test medium: No
- Intervals of water quality measurement: pH values, and dissolved oxygen (O2) concentration in percent were measured in the control and test material groups at the beginning and then daily.

EFFECT PARAMETERS MEASURED: The fish were observed for signs of toxicity or death after 0, 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours,

TEST CONCENTRATIONS

> 10 mg/L
Basis for effect:
mortality (fish)
Duration:
96 h
Dose descriptor:
NOEC
Effect conc.:

Conclusions:
The acute toxicity of the test substance to Zebra fish (Danio rerio) was determined by a static test according to OECD 203 under GLP conditions. The LC50 was determined to be > 10 mg/L.
Executive summary:

The objective of this study was to determine the acute fish toxicity of the test material using zebra fish (Danio rerio) according to OECD 203 (1992) under GLP conditions. For this purpose, 10 zebra fish per test material group and further 10 zebra fish in a control group were exposed over 96 hours, under defined conditions. The fish were observed for signs of toxicity or death. Zebra fish (Danio rerio) were exposed to aqueous test material solutions of nominal 0 (control), 1 and 10.0 mg/L in a static system with continuous aeration. Due to the low solubility of the test substance no analytical measured were performed. No mortality occurred at the highest test concentration. Under the given conditions of this study the 96 h LC50 value for fish was determined to be > 10 mg/L.
