Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

There are no experimental data available on the test item. Therefore, a read-across approach is applied. An EC10 of 55 mg/L was determined for source substance 1 (LAS TEA). Source substance 3 (DEA) did not induce any effects to aquatic microorganisms under the conditions of the test up to a concentration of 1000 mg/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
55 mg/L

Additional information

No experimental data on toxicity to microorganisms is available for the test item. However, experimental data for three source substances is available and a read-across approach is applied. Please refer to read-across justification document attached in IUCLID Section 13. Furthermore, only key studies are taken into account here. For further supporting information please refer to respective REACH registration dossier of each source substance.

LAS TEA (CAS 121617 -08 -1)

The test organism (Pseudomonas putida) was incubated in a defined liquid growth medium with different concentrations of test substance over multiple generations at 24.8 - 25 °C during 18 ± 1 hours. The following concentrations were tested: 0, 50, 100, 200 and 400 mg MARLOPON AT 50/L which is equal to: 0, 28, 56, 112 and 225 mg Benzenesulfonic acid, C10-13-alkyl derivs., compds. with triethanolamine (CAS no. 68411-31-4)/L. After 18 hours, the cell density was determined photometrically as the extinction of the cell suspension at 436 nm. The inhibition of cell growth in presence of test substance compared to that of the control was derived graphically from the extinction values measured at the end of the incubation period. The 18 h EC10 for Pseudomonas putida was 92 mg MARLOPON AT 50/ mL which is equal to 55 mg Benzenesulfonic acid, C10-13-alkyl derivs., compds. with triethanolamine (CAS no. 68411-31-4)/L based on growth inhibition.

DEA (CAS 111 -42 -2)

There is one non-GLP OECD 209 guideline study available. In this short-term respiration test with domestic activated sludge the determined EC10 was >1000 mg/L (referred to nominal concentration).
