Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Biodegradability in aquatic environment was evaluated based on information on the 5-day biochemical oxygen demand (BOD5) due to the lack of other measured degradability data, e.g. ready biodegradability tests or simulation studies.

Potential degradation of test substance by microbiotic activity was evaluated by considering the ratio of BOD5 to COD, where BOD5 indicates the extent to which a substance may be oxidised by non-specific microbiota and COD represents the total capacity of the oxidasable fraction.

Under the test conditions, degradation in terms of BOD5/COD was 3.2 % (solid sample, 45 % purity) and 6.0 % (solution 22 %). Since the substance failed the pass level criterion of 50 % degradation, it is considered as non rapidly biodegradable.
