Description of key information

Flammability: non-flammable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
not classified

Additional information

The test was not conducted. The study does not need to be conducted as the flammability of a substance such as this is more appropriately assessed by reference to the flash point of a melted form (Section 7.9). In accordance with Section 1 of REACH Annex XI, studies of Pyrophoricity and Flammability on contact with water do not need to be conducted because the substance has none of the functional groups which are indicative of these hazards. Tetracosanol forms no flammable gases after contact with water. Tetracosanol does not ignite a short time after coming in contact with air at room temperature.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The substance is not classified for flammability based on flash point data.
