Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

A measured log Koc value of 4.33 (Koc = 21380 L/kg) indicates that the substance has a potential to adsorb to sediment/soil.

To assess the volatilisation potential of the substance a Henry's law constant was calculated which showed a value of 0.12 Pa·m3/mol (at 12 °C). Based on this value partitioning from water to air may be expected to be low.

Based on Level III environmental distribution modelling using EPISUITE (assuming equal and continuous releases to air, water and soil) using the CAS number 79-78-7 and the measured physico-chemical parameters (water solubility (79 mg/l), vapour pressure 0.08 Pa, converted to 0.0006 mmHg) and log Kow (5.5) as input, it is estimated that the majority of the substance released to the environment will partition mainly into soil (86%) and water (11%) with minor amounts to sediment (3%) and air (0.02%).

The SimpleTreat model, which is incorporated in EUSES, simulates the distribution of the substance in a Sewage Treatment Plant. Model calculations show that 38.7% of the substance will be degraded and that 54.0%, 7.2% and 0.02% will partition to sludge, water and air, respectively.
