Description of key information

A Log Pow of 5.02 was estimated for ZMBT by using KOWWIN program v. 1.67

(Currenta, 2010). As this value is not considered useful the result from MBT was taken for assessment.

Additional information

ZMBT is only slightly water soluble and contains variable amount of MBT as impurity. Considering the difficulty in analytics, the partition coefficient of ZMBT is estimated by QSAR method instead of direct measurement. The estimated Log Pow of ZMBT is questionable as the QSAR model is not really validated for organic complexes. The calculated value is much too high as already the water solubility of ZMBT is in the range of 20 mg/L indicating that a high logPow around 5 is not believable. The result from MBT is considered to be reliable and applicable as a key result.
