Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

Description of key information

Physico-chemical properties of registered substance were determined from experimental testing.

Some endpoints were waived, based on chemical structure of constituents or experience in handling and use of the substance.

The substance is a brown red solid at ambient temperature and atmospheric pressure.

It is slightly denser than water.

The substance is not considered to have surface active potential.

It is NOT classified as hazardous with regard to physical hazards (flammability, explosivity, oxidising properties, self-heating) based on Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 (CLP regulation).

Additional information

Summary of relevant physico-chemical properties:

Endpoint (method)

Data

Appearance

(visual)

Registered substance is a brown red solid

at 20 °C and 1 atm.

Melting/Freezing point

(OECD 102/EU A1,capillary method)

The melting range was detected with: 64.6 to 72.8 °C (337.8 to 346 K)

Boiling point

(OECD 103/EU A2,

Siwoloboff)

The boiling point of test item was determined as 173.7 ± 0.8 °C (446.8 ± 0.8K)

under decomposition of the test item.

Relative density

(OECD 109/EU A3,pycnometer method)

1.0912 ± 0.0003 g/cm3 at 20 ± 0.4 °C

slightly denser than water

Granulometry (data waiving)

not applicable

Vapour pressure

(OECD 104/EU A4,

static method)

The vapour pressure of the test item was calculated as 300 Pa at 20.0 °C and 431 Pa at 25 °C

Log Kow

(data waiving)

Waived based on technical issue and poor knownledge of the composition of the substance.

Water solubility

(data waiving)

Waived considering the very complex nature of the test item, the information obtained from testing is considered as not relevant or of practical use for subsequent assessments.

Surface tension

(waiving, not intended to use)

The structures of the constituents of the substance are not characteristic of true surfactants and considering that it is not the intended use of the substance (i.e. not a desired property), this conclusion should be taken with caution.

Auto-ignition temperature

(data waiving)

Waived because it is a solid with mp<160°C

Flammability

(UN N1)

Flash-point

(A9)

Contact with air/water

(Waiving)

Self-heating

(waiving)

Not a flammable solid.

Flash point was determined to be 149.5°C.

No hazardous reaction anticipated if contact with air or water. Waiving, based on structure and experience.

Waived because the test item is a solid with a melting point below 160°C.

Explosive properties

(waiving)

Waiving based on chemical structure of the constituents of the substance.

Registered substance is not to be classified as explosive material.

Oxidising properties

(waiving)

Waiving based on chemical structure of the constituents of the substance.

Registered substance is considered to have no oxidizing properties

Slight variations are possible with composition (UVCB substance).
