Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The 48 h EC50 of ethanethiol to Daphnia magna was <0.1 mg/L, the limit of detection in this experiment; 0% immobilisation was observed at a nominal test concentration of 0.05 mg/L. The 24 hr EC50 was 0.38 mg/L. This was a guideline, GLP study and therefore is considered reliable and suitable for use as the key study for this endpoint. Determination of test item concentration at critical concentrations was limited by limitations of detection equipment and the study is therefore acceptable with restrictions.

Additional information

The key study for acute aquatic invertebrate toxicity (Boutonnet, 1994) was a 48 hour static, freshwater GLP study with analytical monitoring following OECD guideline 202. The determination of test item concentration at critical concentrations was limited by limitations of detection equipment meaning the study is only acceptable with restrictions. It is still considered to be suitable for use as key study for this endpoint.
