Description of key information

The viscosity of 2-methylpropane-2-thiol was determined to be 1.60 mPas at 20˚C and 1.29 mPas at 40˚C at a constant shear rate of 2000 l/s.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Viscosity:
1.6 mPa · s (dynamic)
at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

The results have been taken from Fieseler (2009), a GLP study with a rotational viscometer, following OECD guideline 114 and therefore can be considered reliable and a suitable key study for this endpoint. Because the viscosity at different shear rates did not vary more than +/- 0.8 mPas, the measurements were performed at a constant shear rate of 2000 l/s.
