Additional information

Stearic acid, monoester with glycerol (CAS 31566-31-1) is considered as readily biodegradable according to OECD criteria. This assumption is based on results for the structurally related read-across substance Glycerides, C14-18 mono- and di- (CAS 67701-33-1) tested in a study according to OECD Guideline 301 D. Due to the ready biodegradability in water a rapid degradation of the substance in aquatic and terrestrial environments is expected. Thus, in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, column 2, 9.2.1.2. - 9.2.1.4., further simulation tests for water and sediment or soil biodegradation are not necessary.
