Description of key information

Based on several assays, Sodium Perchlorate BCF is at most 0.35.
On the basis of physicochemical properties and toxicokinetic data, no bioaccumulation in animals, including aquatic species, is anticipated either for Ammonium Perchlorate.

Additional information

Sodium perchlorate bioaccumulation potential has been investigated through taylor-made experiments but which follow the milestones of the OECD 305 guideline. The results obtained demonstrate that sodium perchlorate is rapidly adsorbed but also excreted concluding to very low BCF values (BCF of at most 0.35).

Sodium perchlorate is therefore considered as a non bioaccumulative species which is also supported by its intrinsic properties (high water solubility and non complexing agent).

On the basis of physicochemical properties and toxicokinetic data (small molecular weight, high water solubility, absence of biotransformation in animals, negative log Kow, serum depuration t1/2 of 8–12 hours in humans and 10–20 hours in rats due to efficient excretion in urine), no bioaccumulation in animals, including aquatic species, is anticipated for Ammonium Perchlorate
