Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Low short-term toxicity to fish.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Short-term toxicity of the substance to fish was assessed in 2 experimental studies. Few details on experimental procedures and results were available, thus reliability of available data could not be ascertained. No data on substance solubility in test media and characteristics of test solutions was available. In all cases, effect levels were above the solubility limit in water.

In a study from 1973, following method FC 2.463 (1/5/1973) group of 8 fish were exposed to 20, 200 and 1000 mg/l for 48 h. Test sample was ca. 40 % dye and dispersing agents. Mortality was recorded starting at 200 mg/l; at 1000 mg/l all fishes were dead. Overall:

TL0 = 20 mg/l

TL50 = 340 mg/l, equivalent to 136 mg/l as a.i.

TL 100 = 1000 mg/l

In a study from 1986, conducted on Brachydanio rerio following indications in ETAD 103, no mortality was recorded after 96 h at dose of 100 mg/l using a test sample containing 35.4 % dye and remaining mainly as dispersants. Therefore, no LD50 could be determined and LD0 was identified as 100 mg/l, equivalent to 35.4 mg/l a.i..
