- Endpoint:
- flammable solids
- Type of information:
- experimental study
- Adequacy of study:
- key study
- Study period:
- 29th December, 2015.
- Reliability:
- 1 (reliable without restriction)
- Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
- guideline study
- Qualifier:
- according to guideline
- Guideline:
- EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
- Deviations:
- no
- GLP compliance:
- yes (incl. QA statement)
- Key result
- Test procedure:
- burning rate test: preliminary screening test
- Burning time:
- > 120 s
- Remarks on result:
- substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period
- Interpretation of results:
- non flammable
- Remarks:
- Migrated information
- Conclusions:
- The test item is not flammable according to test A.10. criteria.
- Executive summary:
The study of flammability was performed according to EU Method A.10, under GLP conditions. In the preliminary test, the propagation by burning with flame or smoldering was determined. The substance was formed into an unbroken strip or powder train about 250 mm long by 20 mm wide by 10 mm high on a non-combustible, non-porous and low heat-conducting base plate, and a hot flame was applied to one end of the powder train for up to 2 minutes. The flame did not spread to the rest of the train after ignition source application time of 30s, 60 s, 120 s. Since the results were negative, the substance was determined to be not highly flammable.
- Endpoint:
- substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
- Data waiving:
- study scientifically not necessary / other information available
- Justification for data waiving:
- the study does not need to be conducted because the experience in production or handling shows that the substance does not react with water, e.g. the substance is manufactured with water or washed with water
- the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be soluble in water to form a stable mixture
- Justification for type of information:
- JUSTIFICATION FOR DATA WAIVING
The substance is not classified as flammable in contact with water based on the chemical structure and the experience in handling / use which shows that the substance does not react with water. - Endpoint:
- pyrophoric solids
- Data waiving:
- study scientifically not necessary / other information available
- Justification for data waiving:
- the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied
- Justification for type of information:
- JUSTIFICATION FOR DATA WAIVING
Practical experience in manufacture and handling shows that the substance does not ignite spontaneously on coming into contact with air at normal temperatures.

Additional information
The study of flammability was performed according to EU Method A.10, under GLP conditions. In the preliminary test, the propagation by burning with flame or smoldering was determined. The flame did not spread to the rest of the train after ignition source application time of 30s, 60 s, 120 s. Since the results were negative, the substance was determined to be not highly flammable.
Justification for classification or non-classification
Based on the available information, the substance is not classified for flammability according to CLP Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008.
