Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
Thermal sensitivity (effect of flame): None of the six tests (three of them with the 6 mm orifice plate and the remaining with the 2 mm orifice plate) gave rise to explosion or breaking of any tube. In the three tests with the 6 mm orifice plate the following phenomena were observed: a generation of an intense flame began in the test chamber after about 51 seconds; the intense phase started after about 100 seconds characterized by generation of whistles and a leakage of sample from the orifice. After about 260 seconds all phenomena ended. In the three tests with the 2 mm orifice plate similar phenomena to 6 mm orifice plate were observed. The test result is considered negative.

Mechanical sensitivity (effect of shock): No ignition, explosion or decomposition was obtained during the series of six tests at 40 J performed on the test item (bursting into flame and/or a report is equivalent to explosion). The test result is considered negative.

Mechanical sensitivity (effect of friction): No explosion was obtained during the series of six tests performed with 360 N loading on the test item (crackling and/or a report or busting into flame are equivalent to explosion). The test result is considered negative.

From the experimental data obtained according to A.14 method in Council Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008, it can be concluded that the Salbutamol base sample does not present explosive properties.
