Description of key information

p-Cumylphenol was determined to be hydrolytically stable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The hydrolysis potential of p-Cumylphenol was investigated in a GLP study performed according to OECD Test Guideline 111 (Reimer, 2001).

The observed concentrations of PCP in the solutions indicated that the extent of apparent hydrolysis at 50.0 ± 0.1 °C was -4 ± 2 %, 0.1 ± 0.5 %, and 5 ± 2 % at pH 4, 7 and 9, respectively. The negative value (-4 %) is consistent with the inherent error of analysis for a hydrolytically stable substance. The experimentally observed values of ‘extent of hydrolysis’ are expected to be distributed about 0 %, and include both small positive and small negative values.
