- Executive summary:
Read-across to 21-d studies on Daphnia magna of other substances with similar structures (OECD Guideline 211 (Daphnia magna Reproduction Test) has been done. These substances were: 2-phenoxyethyl acrylate (48145-04-6); methylacrylate (96-33-3), Ethylacrylate (140-88-5), butylacrylate (97-88-1), 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate (818-61-1)methacrylic acid, monoester with propane-1,2-diol (25584-83-2) and 2-phenoxyethanol (122-99-6).
The toxic mode of action was identified to be associated with the acrylate part of the substance. Based on this read-across, an EC10 of 0.1 mg/L was established.

Description of key information
21-day long-term EC10 values for the toxicity (reproduction) of biphenyl-2 -ol, ethoxylated, esters with acrylic acid to the freshwater Daphnia magna was established on the basis of read-across to 7 other substances with a structure contained in phenoxyethyl acrylate. Test guideline followed for the 8 substances was OECD Guideline 211 (Daphnia magna Reproduction Test) or similar.

Additional information
21-day long-term EC10 values for the toxicity (reproduction) of phenoxyethylacrylate to the freshwater Daphnia magna was established on the basis of read-across to 7 other substances with a structure contained in phenoxyethyl acrylate (Methyl-acrylate, Ethyl acrylate, Butylacrylate, 2-ethylhexyl acrylate, Hydroxyethyl acrylate, Biphenyl, 2-phenoxyethanol). Test guideline followed for the 7 substances was OECD Guideline 211 (Daphnia magna Reproduction Test) or similar.
