Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
boiling point
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2016-06-10
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study without detailed documentation
Qualifier:
equivalent or similar to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 103 (Boiling Point)
Deviations:
yes
Remarks:
Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) is used to determine selected characteristics of materials that exhibit either mass loss or gain due to decomposition.
Principles of method if other than guideline:
Thermogravimetric analysis according to OECD 104:
The method is based on the determination of accelerated evaporation rates for the test substance at elevated temperatures and ambient pressure using thermogravimetry. The evaporation rates vT result from exposing the selected compound to a slowly flowing inert gas atmosphere, and monitoring the weight loss at defined isothermal temperatures T in Kelvin over appropriate periods of time.
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:
other: Thermogravimetric analysis

Decomposition:
yes
Decomp. temp.:
362.67 °C
Remarks on result:
other:
Remarks:
Decomposition starts above 200 °C, the peak for decomposition temperature is 362.67 °C.
Conclusions:
The boiling point of the test item (CAS 73912-21-7) was determined according to OECD 103 with acceptable restrictions, using thermogravimetric analysis, which may be considered as a scientifically reasonable approach, and hence the results can be considered to be reliable. As the temperature increases, various components of the sample may vaporize or decompose and the weight percentage of each resulting mass change can be measured. The test item does not have a boiling point but decomposes. Decomposition starts above 200 °C, the peak for decomposition temperature is 362.67 °C.
Executive summary:

Boiling Point was aimed to be determined via OECD guideline 103, employing thermogravimetric analysis. The test item does not have a boiling point but decomposes. Decomposition starts above 200 °C, the peak for decomposition temperature is 362.67 °C.
