Description of key information

In an occupational study of ball bearing workers exposed dermally to kerosine there was an increased prevalence of dermatitis indicating that kerosines are irritant to the skin, particularly on repeated or prolonged contact.

In a review of cancer risk from occupational exposure to kerosine, IARC concluded kerosines are 'not classifiable as to its carcinogenicity to humans (Group 3).

In an occupational study of ball bearing workers exposed dermally to kerosine there was an increased prevelence of dermatitiis indicating that kerosines are irritant to the skin, particularly on repeated or prolonged contact.

In a review by IARC the evidence for an increased cancer risk from exposure to kerosine was examined through review of a cohort study in Swedish Air Force workers and a Canadian case control study. Althugh there was a slight increase in kidney cancer risk in the Canadian study, the overall conclusion was that kerosines are 'not classifiable as to its carcinogenicity to humans (Group 3)'.
