Description of key information

Not oxidising (based on chemical structure)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Oxidising properties:
non oxidising

Additional information

The substance does not contain the elements fluorine or chlorine. While the substance contains oxygen, it is chemically bonded only to carbon atoms. Comparison of the functional groups listed in the Guidance on Information Requirements and Chemical Safety Assessment, Chapter R.7a, May 2008, Table R.7.1-29, with the chemical structure indicates no structural alerts which have been associated with oxidising properties.

Justification for classification or non-classification

According to the additional criteria for classification under Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008, Annex I, part 2, 2.13.4, if the molecule does not contain oxygen, fluorine or chlorine, or contains these atoms only bonded to carbon or hydrogen, then testing is not required. The available data are considered reliable and suitable for classification. As a result, this substance does not meet the criteria for classification under Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008.
