Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Absorption by oral and dermal route, low bioaccumulation potential and mostly excretion by urine.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Absorption

Based on its low molecular weight (414.38), solubility in water (0.4862 g/l at 23 °C and pH = 6.2) and log Kow between  -1 and 4 (0.72) Tris(ethyl acetoacetato-O1',O3)aluminium is expected to be absorbed by gastrointestinal tract and by dermal route. Respiratory absorption is unlikely.

Distribution

Based on its water solubility and log Kow= 0.72 there is no concern regarding potential bioaccumulation of the substance ( threshold value regarding logKow for bioaccumulation alert is 4).

Metabolism

According to the QSAR prediction the complex Tris(ethyl acetoacetato-O1’,O3)aluminium is stable during the metabolism: the precipitation of Al(OH)3 is not expected even though the exchange of ethyl acetoacetate with other ligands present in the human organism can not be excluded. The hydrolysis of the ligand ethyl acetoacetate to acetoacetic acid and ethanol followed by first the decarboxylation to acetic acid and then the reduction to acetaldehyde may occur.

Excretion

Due to the high water solubility of the substance, after oral and dermal absorption Tris(ethyl acetoacetato-O1’,O3)aluminium is expected to be mostly excreted in the urine.
