Description of key information

In a ready biodegradability test according to OCED guideline 301 B (CO2 evolution test) 1,3:2,4-Bis-O-(3,4-dimethylbenzylidene)-D-glucitol was found to be “not readily biodegradable”. However 28% of the test substance was degraded after 28 days, indicating that biodegradation does occur to some extent. A Biological Oxygen Demand test, conducted according to EC Method C5, failed to determine a BOD value. In a Chemical Oxygen Demand test according to EU Methods C6, the COD was determined as 2.77g / g test substance.
