Description of key information
Appearance:
On the basis of physical observation and using the sense of smell, 2-Naphthalenol, 1-[[2-methyl-4-[(2-methylphenyl) azo] phenyl] azo]-, ar-styrenated was observed to be a red liquid organic compound.
Melting point:
The Freezing point of 2-Naphthalenol, 1-[[2-methyl-4-[(2-methylphenyl)azo]phenyl]azo]-, ar-styrenated (CAS No. 85203-90-3) was determined using crushed ice + salt. No freezing was observed up to -10.14 °C.
Boiling Point:
Based on the prediction done using the EPI Suite MPVPBP V1.43,the Boiling point of 2-Naphthalenol, 1-[[2-methyl-4-[(2 -methylphenyl)azo]phenyl]azo]-, ar-styrenated was predicted.
The boiling point of 2-Naphthalenol, 1-[[2-methyl-4-[(2-methylphenyl)azo]phenyl]azo]-, ar-styrenated was estimated to be 744.47˚C.
Density:
Based on prediction done using ACD/I-Lab 2.0,the density of 2 -Naphthalenol, 1 -[[2 -methyl-4 -[(2 -methylphenyl)azo]phenyl]azo]-, ar-styrenated was estimated to be 1.13 g/cm3.
Particle size distribution:
In accordance with REACH Chapter R.7A Endpoint Specific Guidance, specifically R.7.1.14.1 Information requirements on granulometry, the granulometry study does not need to be conducted as the test substance, 2-Naphthalenol, 1-[[2-methyl-4-[(2-methylphenyl)azo]phenyl]azo]-, ar-styrenated (CAS No. 85203-90-3) is a red liquid at room temperature and is marketed or used in a non solid or granular form. Hence this endpoint was considered for waiver.
Vapour pressure:
Modified Grain method was used to estimate the vapour pressure of 2 -Naphthalenol, 1 -[[2 -methyl-4 -[(2 -methylphenyl)azo]phenyl]azo]-, ar-styrenated using MPBPVP v1.43 of EPI SUITE.
The estimated vapour pressure of 2 -Naphthalenol, 1 -[[2 -methyl-4 -[(2 -methylphenyl)azo]phenyl]azo]-, ar-styrenated at 25 deg C was 2.0265E-17 Pa.
Partition coefficient:
KOWWIN V1.68 was used to estimate the octanol water partition coefficient of the test substance 2-Naphthalenol, 1-[[2-methyl-4-[(2-methylphenyl)azo]phenyl]azo]-, ar-styrenated (CAS no. 85203 -90 -3). The estimated logPOW of the test substance 2-Naphthalenol, 1-[[2-methyl-4-[(2-methylphenyl)azo]phenyl]azo]-, ar-styrenated was 13.0334. Based on the estimated value, the test substance 2-Naphthalenol, 1-[[2-methyl-4-[(2-methylphenyl)azo]phenyl]azo]-, ar-styrenated can be considered hydrophobic in nature.
Water solubility:
The water solubility for the test item 2-Naphthalenol, 1-[[2-methyl-4-[(2-methylphenyl)azo]phenyl]azo]-, ar-styrenated was determine to be 0.14075 mgL at 25°C.
Surface tension:
Based on the prediction done by ACD labs, the surface tension for chemical 2-Naphthalenol, 1-[[2-methyl-4-[(2-methylphenyl)azo]phenyl]azo]-, ar-styrenated (CAS No. 85203-90-3) was predicted to be 43.1 ± 7.0 dyne/cm.
Flash point:
Based on the Calculation done using scientifically verified and validated formulas / equations, the flash point of chemical 2 -Naphthalenol, 1-[[2-methyl-4-[(2-methylphenyl) azo] phenyl] azo]-, ar-styrenated was estimated to be 505.36 degree C at 1 atm pressure.
Auto flammability:
2-Naphthalenol, 1-[[2-methyl-4-[(2-methylphenyl)azo]phenyl]azo]-, ar-styrenated did not catch fire on being exposed to air at room temperature of 27°Cpressure of 966 hPa. This indicates that 2-Naphthalenol, 1 -[[2 -methyl-4 -[(2 -methylphenyl)azo]phenyl]azo]-, ar-styrenated is not auto-flammable.
Flammability:
2-Naphthalenol, 1-[[2-methyl-4-[(2-methylphenyl)azo]phenyl]azo]-, ar-styrenated does not indicate any ignition when the flame of bunsen burner having temperature of approximately 950°C is brought in contact with it. Thus it can be concluded that 2-Naphthalenol, 1-[[2-methyl-4-[(2-methylphenyl)azo]phenyl]azo]-, ar-styrenated is not flammable at high temperature. However since such high temperatures are not found under normal circumstances of transportation and use, thus 2 -Naphthalenol, 1 -[[2-methyl-4-[(2-methylphenyl)azo]phenyl]azo]-, ar-styrenated was considered non-flammable for chemical safety assessment.
Explosiveness:
the study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive properties
Oxidizing properties:
The study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with oxidizing properties and hence the classification procedure does not need to be applied.
Stability in organic solvents and identity of relevant degradation products:
The study does not need to be conducted because the stability of the given substance 2-Naphthalenol, 1-[[2-methyl-4-[(2-methylphenyl)azo]phenyl]azo]-, ar-styrenated is not considered to be critical and hence this end point was considered as waiver.
