Executive summary:

The Acute Immobilisation (EC50) of the test item AMINOL (batch number: R0075037), to Daphnia magna (STRAUS) was determined according to OECD Guideline 202 (1999, Draft)/EC Directive 92/69/EC Method C.2 from 2003-08-26 to 2003-08-28 at the DR.U.NOACK-LABORATORIUM FÜR ANGEWANDTE BIOLOGIE, D-31157 Sarstedt. The study was conducted under static conditions over a period of 48 hours. 20 test organisms were exposed to each test concentration and control. The recovery rates of the test item in the new and the old media were > 80 %, therefore the results are given based on the nominal test item concentrations. The nominal test item concentrations were as follows: 10.0 - 5.00 - 2.50 - 1.25 - 0.625 mg/L. The 24 and 48 h EC10-values and the 24 and 48 h EC50-values with confidence interval (Cl) were calculated by probit analysis (Table 1 ). The 24 and 48 h EC100-values were determined directly from the test results obtained. A reference test was carried out with potassium dichromate. The EC50-value of the reference item at 1.49 mg/L after 24 h was within the prescribed concentration range of 1.0 to 2.5 mg/L according to AQS, DIN Guideline 38412 L 30. Water quality parameters pH-value and dissolved oxygen concentration measured at 0 and 48 h were determined to be within the acceptable Iimits. The validity criteria of the test guideline were fulfilled.
