Test guideline
- Qualifier:
- according to guideline
- Guideline:
- OECD Guideline 209 (Activated Sludge, Respiration Inhibition Test
- Deviations:
- yes
- Remarks:
- ln contrast to the guideline, it was decided to use copper (II) sulphate pentahydrate instead of the prescribed 3,5-dichlorophenol. The usage of Dichlorophenol is unsuitable for routine Iab use
- GLP compliance:
- yes (incl. QA statement)

- Executive summary:
A Respiration Inhibition Test with activated sludge according to OECD Guideline No. 209 was performed for 3 h with the test item AMINOL A098 (batch-no. R0075037), on 2003-05-08 at the test facility DR.U.NOACK-LABORATORIUM FÜR ANGEWANDTE BIOLOGIE, D-31157 Sarstedt. Testsystem was activated sludge of the municipal treatment plant of D-31157 Sarstedt. The test method was static. Nominal concentrations of the test item were as follows: 10- 32- 100- 320- 1000- 3200 mg/L. The respiration rates of control, reference and test item were measured after a contact time of three hours, and the inhibitory effects of the test and reference concentrations were determined in comparison to the control respiration rates. The concentration effect relationship is shown in Figure 1. The Inhibition ranged from 28 to 81% (Table 2). The EC20 , EC50 - and EC80 -values were calculated via probit analysis (Table 1 ). ln order to check the activity of the test system and the test conditions a reference test is carried out with copper-(11)-sulphate-pentahydrate as reference item and the reference toxicity is determined. The EC50 - value for the reference item was 105 mg/L.
Validity criteria of the lest guideline were fulfilled.
