Materials and methods
Test guideline
- Qualifier:
- according to guideline
- Guideline:
- EU Method A.14 (Explosive properties)
- Deviations:
- no
- Principles of method if other than guideline:
- Testing of impact sensitivity - the principle of the method consistes of determination of energy of a weight with determined mass falling from determined height, when the tested material can be brought to explosive transformation.
Testing of friction sensitivity - the principle of the method consists in determination of friction stimulus, when the substance being tested can be brought to explosive transformation. The tested material is placed on a rough porcelain plate. The loaded peg is placed on the tested material. During the movement of the plate referring to the peg, the tested material is influenced by the specified friction stimulus. The stimulus depends on the place (notch) where one of 9 weights can be attached to the lever of the friction apparatus.
Testing of thermal sensitivity - the principle of the method consists in the determination of changes in the character of combustion/decomposition of the material tested if the material is placed under high confinement and is heated intensively. In particular, relation between diameter of the hole and the confinement and the degree of destroying of this confinement (no effects, deformation, fragmentation) has been recognised. The confinement consists of a steel tube closed with an orifice plate. The plates with different diameters of the hole are being used in the trials. The tube and the plate are kept together by a collar twisted with a nut. Heating is provided by gas burners. - GLP compliance:
- yes
