Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no study available
Additional information:

No studies for determination the sensitisation properties of fluorine have been performed and none are proposed, based on scientific considerations and for animal welfare reasons. In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VII, the skin sensitisation study (required in section 8.3) does not need to be conducted since the available information indicates that the criteria are met for classification as corrosive to the skin.

The local dermal effects of the substance will be dominated by irritation/corrosion and sensitisation is considered to be unlikely. Additionally it is noted that there is no evidence that fluoride is a skin sensitiser.

Respiratory sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no study available

Justification for classification or non-classification

No classification is proposed in the absence of any indication that fluorine can cause sensitisation.
