Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not sensitising)
Additional information:

There are no data available for lithium isooctadecanoate for skin sensitisation but testing is currently being conducted.

Data on fatty acids C18 (unsaturated) lithium salts have been read across to lithium isooctadecanoate on the basis that the substances have common structures of lithium salts of C18 fatty acids, varying only by the presence of a methyl group or unsaturated carbon-carbon double bonds. The methyl branched fatty acid component of lithium isooctadecanoate is not expected to be hazardous. See IUCLID section 13 for read across justification.

Fatty acids C18 (unsaturated) lithium salts was subjected to a Local Lymph Node Assay in mice according to OECD Guideline 429. The test material was considered to be a non-sensitiser under the conditions of the test with the highest Stimulation Index of 1.68 at 10% concentration in ethanol/distilled water.

The negative result from the fatty acids C18 (unsaturated) lithium salts study has been read across to lithium isooctadecanoate and, therefore, lithium isooctadecanoate is considered to be a non-sensitiser.

Respiratory sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no study available

Justification for classification or non-classification

No classification required - Local Lymph Node Assay: Stimulation Index <3 at the highest concentration tested. The substance tested is a structural analogue of lithium isooctadecanoate and the data are appropriate for read across.
