Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Data on the acute toxicity of the target substance Fatty acids, C18-unsatd., dimers, polymers with 2-ethylhexanol and neopentyl glycol (CAS 68552-19-2) to fish are not available. The assessment was therefore based on studies conducted with the source substances Fatty acids, C18-unsatd., dimers, mixed esters with oleic acid and trimethylolpropane (CAS 147256-33-5) and Fatty acids, C18-unsatd., dimers, 2-ethylhexyl esters (CAS 68334-05-4) as part of a read across approach, which is in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, Annex XI, 1.5. Further justification is given within the analogue justification in IUCLID section 13.

The available semi-static limit test on the source substance Fatty acids, C18-unsatd., dimers, mixed esters with oleic acid and trimethylolpropane (CAS 147256-33-5) was conducted according to OECD 203 (GLP). The tested nominal loading rate was 100 mg/L (WAF). Rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) were exposed the test substance loading rate for 96 hours. The mortality of the test fish was determined after 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours. Mortality or symptoms of intoxication were not observed. The reported LL50 (96 h) is >100 mg/L (nominal, WAF).

The acute toxicity of the source substance Fatty acids, C18-unsatd., dimers, 2-ethylhexyl esters (CAS 68334-05-4)to Pimephales promelas was testedunder static conditions according to OECD guideline 203 (GLP). The test was conducted as a limit test at a nominal loading rate of 100 mg/L (WAF). Toxicity or symptoms of intoxication were not observed. At test termination after 96 hours of exposure a LL50 (96 h) > 100 mg/L was determined.

Based on the results for the suitable source substances (in accordance to Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 Annex XI, 1.5), Fatty acids, C18-unsatd., dimers, polymers with 2-ethylhexanol and neopentyl glycol (CAS 68552-19-2) is not considered to be acutely toxic to fish up to the limit of water solubility.
