Description of key information

The EC50 of 2-(4-Amino-2-nitroanilino)ethanol on Daphnia magna after 48 h of exposure under semi-static conditions is 4.15 mg/L (95% confidence Interval  = 2.36 - 7.31 mg/L) expressed as nominal concentration (measured concentrations represent more than 80% of the nominal concentrations). The 48h-EC10 is 1.70 mg/L (95% confidence Interval  : < 0.9 - 4.06 mg/L) and the NOEC is 0.9 mg/L.

Additional information

The acute toxicity of the substance 2-(4-Amino-2-nitroanilino)ethanol to Daphnia magna was tested according to the OECD guideline 202 and the EU method C.2, and in conformity with the GLP. The study was conducted under semi-static conditions.

20 daphnies were exposed during 48h to the following nominal concentrations : 0.9 - 1.9 - 4.1 - 9.1 - 20 mg/L. Analysis by High Performance Liquid Chromatography of the tested concentrations on new prepared solutions and after 24 hours of exposure demonstrate that the measured concentrations represents more than 80% of the nominal concentrations. So the results are expressed as nominal concentrations.

The water quality parameter (pH, oxygen) measured on new and old media after 24hours and 48hours of exposure were within the acceptable limits. No immobilisation was observed in the controls. The validity criteria of the guideline were fulfilled.

The EC50 of the substance 2-(4-Amino-2-nitroanilino)ethanol on Daphnia magna after 48 h of exposure to the test item is 4.15 mg/L (95% confidence Interval  = 2.36 - 7.31 mg/L) expressed as nominal concentration (measured concentration more than 80% of the nominal concentration). The 48h-EC10 is 1.70 mg/L (95% confidence Interval  : < 0.9 - 4.06 mg/L) and the NOEC is 0.9 mg/L.

This study is classified as acceptable and satisfies the guideline requirement.
