Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
flammable solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
UN Manual of Tests and Criteria: Test N.1 (Test method for readily combustible solids)
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Specific details on test material used for the study:
Batch no.: 19018
Dodecyl(2-hydroxy-3-sulphonatopropyl)dimethylammonium: 72.7 %
Key result
Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Remarks on result:
substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period

The flame of the gas burner did ignite the test item pile. The test item burned with a yellow flame and turned into a black residue. Grey smoke was observed. After removal of the ignition source, the flame extinguished after 72 seconds and no propagation of combustion was observed.

Interpretation of results:
not classified based on GHS criteria
Conclusions:
The preliminary screening test was performed for the determination of the flammability on the test item.

No propagation of combustion of the test item along 200 mm length of the pile within 2 minutes was observed. According to the guidelines, performance of the burning rate test is not required. Based on the results obtained, the test item is considered ‘not flammable’.
