flash point, other
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
supporting study
Study period:
1 (reliable without restriction)
equivalent or similar to guideline
other: ASTM D 6450-12e1 Standard Test Method for Flash Point by Continuously Closed Cup (CCCFP) Tester
Principles of method if other than guideline:
The flash point (closed-cup) can be determined according to ASTM D6450-12e1 by a auto-tester. The sample is loaded into the sample cup of the tester and then is heated by a constant rate. The electric arc ignitions are applied periodically in the test chamber, then the flash point can be determined based on the pressure rise in the chamber resulted from the flash occurring.
GLP compliance:
Type of method:
closed cup
Flash point apparatus:
other: Closed-cup Flash Point Tester: MINIFLASH FLP
Flash point:
ca. 112 °C
Atm. press.:
ca. 101.325 kPa

The expected flash point: 113℃, Set-up of temperatures was as followings:

- The initial ignition temperature ti: 100℃;

- The final ignition temperature tf: 130℃

Determination results of the flash point:

No. Result

1 112.1 ℃

2 111.9℃

Average value112.0 ℃≈ 11 2℃

The average value of testing results, 112℃, can be considered valid based on:

- The expected value was 113℃, determination results were 112.1℃ and 111.9℃, the deviation was less than 10℃;

- The deviation between two independent test results was not more than 2℃.

Flash Point (closed-up) is 112°C
