A 21 d NOEC of 100 mg/L has been determined for the effects of the hydrolysis product, 2-butoxyethanol, on Daphnia magna (EU RAR for CAS 111-76-2, 2006).

In view of the rapid hydrolysis of the registered substance to silicic acid and 2-butoxyethanol and the absence of toxicity to aquatic organisms of silicic acid, the PNECs will be based on data for 2-butoxyethanol (CAS 111-76-2). The available data are obtained from the EU RAR (2006). A 21 d NOEC value of 100 mg/L was reported for a long-term toxicity to invertebrates study conducted with Daphnia magna.
