A standard Pensky-Martens apparatus was used for this determination. 75mL of Tolcide PS75 was charged to the apparatus and the pilot as jet was ignited. The heating block was heated by a gas flame and the rate of heating was approximately 5°C per minute.
The sample started at 20°C and the shutter was closed. As the temperature rose, the shutter mechanism was operated every 5°C so that, if flammable vapour were to be present, it would ignite and produce a "flash".

The test were not performed under GLP, but were inspected by internal Quality Assurance. The study of Talbot (1999) is well documented and meets generally accepted scientific principles and therefore was assessed as reliable key study (with restritions) for CLP and risk assessment purposes. The study of Fidoe is not well documented and its reliability cannot be assessed however, the result being consistent with the Talbot study it is used as supporting study.
