Description of key information

Short-term toxicity to fish: The acute toxicity of the test item to fish (Danio rerio) was conducted in a static test according to EU Method C.1 (Acute Toxicity to Fish). After 96 hours of exposure a LC0 value of 10 mg/L and after 24 hours of exposure a LC100 value of 100 mg/L was obtained. A geometric mean of LC0/LC100 was calculated to be 31.6 mg/L.

Short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates: The study was performed according to Method C.2 ‘Acute toxicity for Daphnia’ (1992), described in the Council Regulation (EC) No 92/69, which is equivalent to OECD Guideline for Testing of Chemicals No. 202 'Daphnia sp., Acute Immobilization Test'. The acute toxicity of the test item to invertebrates (Daphnia magna) was determined after 48 h of exposure and showed an EC0 of 4.0 mg/L and an EC100 of 16.0 mg/L. A geometric mean of EC0/EC100 was calculated to be 8.0 mg/L.

Toxicity to aquatic algae: The study was performed according to EU Method C.3 'Algal Inhibition Test', which is equivalent to OECD Guideline for Testing of Chemicals No. 201 'Alga Growth Inhibition Test'. The acute toxicity of the test item to the aquatic algae Scenedesmus subspicatus was determined after 72 h of exposure and showed an ErC10 of 1.6 mg/L and an ErC50 of 10.0 mg/L. Measured cell density was used to calculate a NOEC of 0.32 mg/L.

Toxicity to microorganisms: A study with activated sludge was performed according to the German standard method "Amtsblatt der EG L 133 Teil C: Biologische Abbaubarkeit: Prüfung der Atmungshemmung", which is equivalent to the OECD Guideline 209. The test item showed 75.2 % respiration inhibition of activated sludge at the highest test item concentration (56 mg/L) and an 3 hr-EC50 value of 20 mg/L was determined.
