Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

According to the REACH Regulation Annex VII Column 2, the study does not need to be conducted when the organic substance or a homogenous mixture of organic substances does not contain chemical groups associated with explosive properties.

The test substance does not contain any chemical groups associated with explosive properties and in addition the decomposition energy is less than 500 J/g; the study does not need to be conducted.

Justification for classification or non-classification

According to the CLP Regulation (EC 1272/2008), 2.1.4.2. Screening procedure section, the screening procedure is aimed at identifying the presence of such reactive groups and the potential for rapid energy release. If the screening procedure identifies the substance or mixture to be a potential explosive, the acceptance procedure (section 10.3 of the UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria) has to be performed.

Screening procedure failed to evidence any reason for concern, on the basis of its chemical structure (absence of chemical groups associated with explosive properties) and on its decomposition energy.

In conclusion, substance does not meet the criteria to be classified as explosive according to the CLP Regulation (EC) No.1272/2008.
