Results for screening evaluation:

Analysis of the molecular structure of the substance revealed that no such chemical alert structures are present in the molecule.

Calculation of the oxygen balance according to the above mentioned formula is -89.58 and therefore higher than the trigger value of -200.

Determination of the exothermic decomposition energy:

The curve obtained from thermal analysis, displayed no exothermic peak up to 350 °C. As a result, the energy release is below a critical trigger level of 500 J/g with the onset of energy release being below 500 °C.

Summary and Conclusion:

In summary, analysis of the chemical structure reveals no alerts for explosive properties is present in the molecule. The calculated chemical oxygen balance is above the trigger value of -200, but the determination of the exothermic decomposition energy demonstrated an energy release up to 350 °C. Therefore, the substance is considered to be non-explosive according to Directive 67/548/EEC and Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 and no further testing is required.

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
The substance is considered to be non-explosive.
Executive summary:

A screening for the explosive properties of the test substance was carried out according to internationally accepted guidelines. Analysis of the molecular structure revealed no alerts for explosive properties. The calculated oxygen balance is -89.58 and therefore higher than the trigger value of -200. While the determination of the exothermic decomposition energy, revealed no exothermic peak up to 350 °C. As a result, the overall energy release was below a critical trigger level of 500 J/g and the onset of energy release was below 500 °C. Therefore, the substance is considered to be non-explosive according to Directive 67/548/EEC and Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 and no further testing is required.

Description of key information

A screening for the explosive properties of the test substance was carried out according to internationally accepted guidelines. Analysis of the molecular structure revealed no alerts for explosive properties. The calculated oxygen balance is -89.58 and therefore higher than the trigger value of -200. The determination of the exothermic decomposition energy revealed no exothermic peak up to 350 °C. As a result, the overall energy release was below a critical trigger level of 500 J/g and the onset of energy release was below 500 °C.Therefore, the substance is considered to be non-explosive according to Directive 67/548/EEC and Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 and no further testing is required.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

The substance is considered non-explosive, hence it does not warrant classification as per the CLP (Regulation EC No. 1272/2008) criteria.
