Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Conclusion on classification

Relevant information for classification

Water solubility: The water solubility of the test item at 20 °C is <0.0264 mg/L (OECD 105, flask method).

Biodegradation:

Not readily biodegradable (10.5%) within 14 d (Test Methode relating to New Chemical Substances-Kanpogyo N° 5, Yakuhatsu N° 616, 49 Kikyoku N° 392)

Bioaccumulation:

BCF 505 (mean of 492 and 518, 56 days after test at 0.05 ppb, Oryzias latipes)

LogPow = 4.9 at 35 °C pH 7

Acute toxicity:

to aquatic invertebrates: EC50 (48 h) >0.0016 mg/L (arithmetic mean measured, limit of water solubility) for Daphnia magna (OECD 202)

to aquatic algae: ErC50 (72 h) >0.62 µg/L (Time weighted average, limit of water solubility) for Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata based on growth rate (OECD 201).

Chronic toxicity:

to algae: ErC10 (72 h) >0.62 µg/L (Time weighted average, limit of water solubility) for Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata based on growth rate (OECD 201).

Classification justification according to CLP:

Based on the data above the substance (CAS 13080-86-9) is not rapidly biodegradable. Acute toxicity data are available for two trophic levels (aquatic invertebrates and algae) whereas chronic toxicity was only investigated for aquatic algae. No toxicity was recorded up to the maximum soluble concentration in all available studies.

Due to the low water solubility, low biodegradation rate, the absence of effects in acute toxicity studies and a potential for bioaccumulation (log Pow > 4, BCF > 500), the substance is classified as "Aquatic Chronic 4" (H413) according to the consolidated version of Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 and all further amendments (ATPs) based on the available data.
