Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Interpretation of results:
- Category 4 based on GHS criteria
- Conclusions:
- This material vinylbenzyl chloride has a moderate acute oral toxicity. After oral uptake of 1 g of test substance per kg body weight (10 % in corn oil) death of the treated rat occured in one day.
- Executive summary:
Two rats were treated with different doses of the test substance vinylbenzyl chloride in corn oil. At a concentration of 1 g/kg all test animals died after 1 day. At a dose of 0.5 g/kg only slight initial weight loss occured, at 0.252 g/kg moderate irritation of the stomach and slight kidney pathology was noted and at a dose of 0.126 g/kg slight irritation of the stomach and no other symptoms were noted.
