Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

In order for a chemical species to exhibit oxidising properties it must have the ability to either transfer oxygen or cause other species to lose electrons (i.e.become oxidised). The oxidising potential of a substance is governed by its molecular composition and functional groups.

The compound 'octadecylmercaptan' does not posses any oxygen atoms nor does it contain any functional groups associated with oxidising behaviour (e.g.halogens).
