Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In accordance with Column 2 adaptation statement of REACH Annex VII, information requirement section 7.5, the study does not need to be conducted if the melting point is above 300 °C. If the melting point is between 200 °C and 300 °C, a limit value based on measurement or a recognised calculation method is sufficient. For potassium bisoxalatoborate, the melting point is ca. 205 °C and the vapour pressure was estimated using read across information from lithium bis(oxalato)borate. The vapour pressure of lithium bis(oxalato)borate was determined by the static method according to EU Method A.4 using a capacitance manometer. The vapour pressure of lithium bis(oxalato)borate was calculated to be 0.0042 Pa at 20 °C. Thus, based on structural analogue, both lithium bis(oxalato)borate and potassium bis(oxalato)borate can be regarded as hardly volatile or non-volatile.
