Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
relative self-ignition temperature (solids)
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2007
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
test procedure in accordance with generally accepted scientific standards and described in sufficient detail
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other:
Version / remarks:
CEI-1241-2-1 Part 2 - Method B "in cloud"
Principles of method if other than guideline:
The temperature is determined in a "Godbert-Greenwald" oven. The powder is suspended in contact with the wall of the heated oven. Then, the detection of the ignition or not of the dust is done.
Several test are realised. In each one, several parameters varie : hoven temperature (in steps of 20°C), mass of powder tested (0.15 - 0.3 - 0.6 g), air pressure of the suspension of the sample (0.15 , 0.3 pr 0.5 bar)
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Specific details on test material used for the study:
Sponsor sample identification : "Ultra - fines Erythritol" / Ineris sample identifiction : 07AA261
Sample received from the Sponsor on 03/01/07
No sample preparation.
Key result
Relative self-ignition temperature:
ca. 440 °C
Conclusions:
The temperature of auto-ignition (in cloud) of the sample is 440°C
Endpoint:
relative self-ignition temperature (solids)
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2007
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
test procedure in accordance with generally accepted scientific standards and described in sufficient detail
Remarks:
test performed before
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other: Normalized method : CEI-1241-2-1 Part 2 - Method A - "in layer"
Principles of method if other than guideline:
The temperature of auto-ignition of a layer of the pulverulent product is the minimal temperature of a hot surface for which an ingition occurs in the layer, placed an this surface.
The ignition were considered if we noticed a flare or flames in the material, or if we measured a temperature of 450°C or more, or an increase of 250 K or more compared to the temperature of the hot surface, during the test.
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Specific details on test material used for the study:
Sponsor sample identification : "Ultra - fines Erythritol" / Ineris sample identifiction : 07AA261
Sample received from the Sponsor on 03/01/07
Key result
Relative self-ignition temperature:
>= 400 °C
Remarks on result:
other: 5 mm layer
Conclusions:
The temperature of autoignition "in layer" of the product is > 400°C
