Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The study for flammability of solids does not need to be conducted because the substance is a liquid. However, the racemic form of the substance (50:50 mixture of D-Tetramethrin and L-Tetramethrin), being solid and melting at 72 - 74 °C has been assessed for flammability of solids and during pre-test it was seen that when heated with the flame of a Bunsen-burner the racemic mixture did melt but did not ignite. Thus, the substance D-tetramethrin is considered non-flammable and non-pyrophoric. Additionally, as experience in production and handling shows that the substance is non-pyrophoric and does not react with water, further studies assessing flammable gases being released upon contact with water are also not required.

Thus, it can be concluded that the substance is non-flammable, non-pyrophoric and not emitting flammable gases in contact with water.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on available supporting studies on the racemic form, it can be concluded that the substance is non-flammable, non-pyrophoric and not emitting flammable gases in contact with water. Thus, classification for flammability according to the classification criteria in CLP (Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008) is not required.
