Description of key information

No data from is availabe for the long-term toxicity to daphnia for (2E)-2 -methyl-3 -phenylacrylaldehyde and so data from the structurally similar source substance ( Hexylcinnamaldehyde (101-86-0) ) has been provided. A key Guideline OECD 211 study was conducted to determine the effects of the test material (Hexylcinnamaldehyde (101-86-0)) on the survival, growth and reproduction of the cladoceran,Daphnia magna, during a 21-day exposure period under flow-through test conditions. The NOEC for reproduction was 63 µg a.i./L and the LOEC was 157 µg a.i./L. Based on the reproduction observed in the treatment groups, the 21-day EC10value was 69 µg a.i./L and the 21-day EC50value was >157 µg a.i./L, the highest concentration tested.
