Description of key information

Pyrophoric Liquids: For a substance or mixture to be classified as a pyrophoric liquid under EU CLP, a liquid must ignite within 5 min when added to an inert carrier and exposed to air, or it ignites or chars a filter paper on contact with air within 5 min. Based on the composition of the product, this is clearly not the case and the chemical should not be classified under this EU CLP endpoint.

Self-heating: ECHA Guidance on the Application of the CLP Criteria states “The surface of liquids is not large enough for reaction with air and the test method is not applicable to liquids. Therefore liquids are not classified as self-heating.” As the chemical is a liquid it should not be classified under this EU CLP endpoint.

Substances and mixtures which, in contact with water, emit flammable gases: Experience in handling and use shows that the mixture does not react with water and the mixture is known to be soluble in water to form a stable mixture - the commercial product contains ≈50% w/w water.
