Endpoint:
auto-ignition temperature (liquids)
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a liquid non flammable in air, e.g. no flash point up to 200°C
Justification for type of information:
JUSTIFICATION FOR DATA WAIVING
In accordance with ECHA Guidance document 7a (V4, July 2015) Chapter 7.1.10.7: Self-Heating substances and mixtures, liquids do not require testing for self-heating. A study has not been performed; however, for completion a ’screen’ was performed to provide confirmation that self-heating was not evident. A sample of ‘reaction mass of mixed xylenes and sulphur monochloride’ was heated from 25 - 400°C in a sealed gold pan using Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC). No evidence of thermal events was observed in the resulting DSC trace (A Calvert, 2016, AC/601/31, confirming that no further testing was required.
